About the mode

The second mode is most likely the ancient Greek traditional Lydian mode. It belongs to the chromatic genre. The reflecting sound of this mode is Di Reflecting sound

The second mode uses the soft chromatic scale:

Master and ending notes

In eirmologika pieces the master notes are Pa and Di; in stiherarika Pa and Ga or Ke and Ni. In papadika Pa, Ga, Di, and Ke. In eirmologika the ending notes are in the note Pa, in stiherarika the ending notes are also Pa. In papadika the ending notes are also in Pa.


Plagal of Second Mode

About the mode

The plagal of second mode is also linked to the Underlydian way of chanting, and like the second mode it belonegs to the chromatic genre; yet it differs from the second mode. The reflecting sound of this mode is stated by Pa Reflecting Sound or Di Reflecting sound
